Hi there today I would love to show you a little notebook. I stamped with heart Tilda and Magnolia’s “Love corner” with Vintage photo and colored the image in with Prismacolor pencils. It does look so simple but honestly this kind of technique takes me so long. (there is an awesome article in one of the older Magnolia Ink magazine written by the very talented Chris Dark!!) For me the process of coloring this image was a healing one. I just had found out that day (Valentines Day) that a family member of mine passed away. I had lots of time to reflect. Simple, but this little book means a lot to me.
I added some Stickles around the edge of the book and added some lace and bakers twine to the spine. I kept one end of the twine longer to add a heart charm to it – it can be used as a book mark. Also used is a small red button and pearls.
Anyhow.. life must go on, Niklas needed the day after Valentines birthday card for his teacher and I totally forgot all about it. In the morning I quickly stamped the large Magnolia butterfly on some paper and had him color in with some pastels. He added some wind (black swirls a cloud and his own smilie face). At first he did not even wanted to make the card but once he had one for his teacher after school he told me “SHE REALLY Liked my card” he was happy. I think this butterfly is really quite cute to have for kids crafts, the large areas make it easy for the little ones to color in.
since I was not able to blog last week I wanted to share the little project I made with my kids – we have to make each year about 50+ Valentines to be exact 58 this year. I have tons of broken Crayola crayons. This year I soaked all those broken pieces we collect each year in warm water, let the kids peel off all the wrappers, I took off the little pieces.
added them all into a silicone tray – I have seen nice small ones (my hearts are quite big and needed lots of crayons) at Michaels and Target for just $1 and put them on low heat for about 10 minutes in the oven. They all melt nicely and came easily out of the form after I cooled them for about 10 minutes outside.
Here is a close up shot of the finished gifts– I let the kids added into each baggie some chocolate and a crayon heart and I tied with ribbon close. I stamped the sentiments and had the kids punch out the matting and had them write their names to the back of the tag . Next time I would maybe add a nice sentiment for the crayon… like “You color my world” or so … I just ran out of time with making almost 60 of these in time for Valentines day.
Thank you for your visit.
Love
