BBQ Season Has Officially Started

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

As I was waiting for my stamps from the new Magnolia animals of the year collection to arrive I had a play with some of my older Tilda stamps. LOOOOOVE em! Especially all the food related ones.

I made for a friend of mine a recipe book after a lot of back and forth how to be able to actually get some sort of a usable book done I decided to ditch my original plan of using a word iron stand where you could flip pages (6x6) to a chip board type book. This may not be the kind she probably actually has out while cooking but it could still serve to collect some favorite recipes. I made sure I have lots of pockets, free space and tags to make notes on. By choosing this type of book, I limited myself to all flat embellishments. That was certainly a harder, if I had used the stand it would have been easier to find cute things to fill the pages up.

Anyways…off to the pictures and I promise I will make it short from now on

Vintage cottage chic

Hello, back with an other home decoration idea.

So easy with just a few supplies you have on hand and some things you can find at your craft store.Flowershop_1

I used again some of those $1 mini Manson jars I found at Michaels. I pimped each of them to match some paper flowers I am going to fill into the glasses.

Flowershop_2

To decorate the jars I used a variety of Magnolia ink Design papers, Magnolia Do Hickey dies and Martha Stewart molds and clay.Flowershop_3

Next I decorated this little wooden carrier I also found at Michaels. With a 50% off coupon it wasn’t expensive and the mini Manson jars fit like a glove. I used some alphabet stickers to spell the wording onto the chalk label and the top of the lids.

Flowershop_6

The cute Tilda I decorated the carrier with is called: Tilda with corkscrews

Flowershop_4Thank you. Hope you are having a beautiful day!

sweet yes, but no sugar please

bag_4

The other day when hubby and I finished this new Special K candy he was about to toss the box in the trash and I said to him hold on I think I can make something with it. The colors of the bag reminded me of some Magnolia Design papers I have and I liked the shape of the box. Instead of going through the trouble of remaking the box I just painted it with Gesso leaving on some edges peek the teal still through so my Designer paper was meant to be with the box.

bag_2

On the back side of the box I kept the original closure. I could have covered the lid as well but I wasn’t sure if I could trace the lip that closes the box as nicely back in. It works for me. Over the Gesso I just stamped with a background stamp some texture.

Mixed Media

hello ladies, first I need to apologize for the rather dark photos. It was already 5pm when I took the photos today but I know I will be busy over the weekend so I thought I give it a try anyways.
I got recently hooked on Mixed Media Youtube videos.. spent hours watching them. I did start to purchase some of the items the ladies use but boy this is a whoooole new world and I need quite some more STUFF hahaha.
For now I tried with things I have had on hand and some supplies I just recently purchased to create a little canvas with one of the new Tilda’s from the Animal of the Year Collection.

You make me smile_4

I am not going too much into details.. here is the short version, first I painted the canvas with Gesso to prep my surface for the background painting. Than I used Faber Castell Gelatos and a water mist bottle to create my background. Faber Castell Gelatos worked well and were fairly inexpensive to purchase. I added die cuts (gift from Tammi) and some texture with modeling paste mixed with green paint and a stencil. I also used several Magnolia stamps to stamp onto my canvas. I will list all those below as always.
Thanks for looking – have a wonderful weekend
hugs

You make me smile_5

Stamps: Magnolia Tilda with Mae Monkey, Magnolia Zebra Background (Pet Collection), script stamp, vine stamp (Zoo Collection)
Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo
Distress paint in pink and green, modeling paste, Copics, Faber Castell Gelato, black marker for doodeling, Inka Gold Gold and blue, Stickles in purple and Diamond Dust, Magnolia flowers (shabby chic green), gems, findings, canvas, Gesso, pearl ex, Primer brush, Glimmer Mist, Glossy Accents

Tag card

Hello dears,

this week is teacher appreciation week in my kids school (not anything we have ever had when I went to school) insert rolling eyes here … anyways… the kids wrote their teachers a nice letter, bring them a flower – which teachers collect and they will have about 20 flowers in a vase on their desks.. and the parents usually (optional) give the teachers a little gift. I am going to be able to slide a little Starbucks gift card into the pocket on my tag (behind that fence die cut).Tag card_1

I made for the female second grade teacher a gift card holder. I loved the tag card my sweet and talented friend Tammi Buck made so much that I had to try one out too. You can find the tutorial also in Magnolia ink – Ashlee shared the the How-to, I used her measurements as guideline but I made my card a bit shorter and a lot narrower.

Tag card_2

Supplies used are:
Magnolia Tilda binding flowers
Papers: Magnolia Ink Royal Swedish feathers, yellow quilt
Dies: Magnolia Doo Hickey corner, Magnolia Doo Hickey envelope, Magnolia doo Hickey fence, Magnolia doo hickey bloomy tag, Spellbinder oval, Little Darlings Vintage View finder, Mini alphabet stamp set $1 section
Other:
Martha Stewart mold, Martha Stewart clay, Liquid pearls, burlap, seam binding, Hobby House flowers, stickles, water color paper, water colors, brushes, splatter stamp, Distress ink pad in Walnut stain, distressing tool

Thank you
